even here, he’s good.

Hi friend. I hope you’re doing well this month.

October has felt quieter. The air is cooler, the days are shorter, and I’ve noticed the shift not just around me but within me. My body’s been tired, my mind a little foggy, and my emotions a bit unsteady. Life has felt chaotic at times, yet in the middle of it I sense a steady peace reminding me that Jesus is near.

Lately, I’m learning a softer trust. Not the kind that demands notice, but the kind that quietly rests in a busy world. Growth with Him isn’t always obvious or loud. Sometimes it’s hidden, like roots pushing through cold soil. You may not see it, but you can feel something quietly taking shape in your spirit.

When Slowing Down Becomes a Gift

Because of my health, I’ve had to slow down. Nausea and fatigue kept me in bed on days I wanted to keep going. At first, I felt frustrated and even a little resentful, like I was falling short or letting people down. Plans were canceled and opportunities slipped away. I hated feeling stuck. Over time, though, the slower pace has shown its blessing. There have been sweet moments to breathe, journal, and simply sit with the Lord.

n the stillness, God has been gently speaking to me about worth. It’s easy to feel confident when life is moving forward and people are kind. But when everything slows, or falls apart, the cracks begin to show. This month brought moments that cut deep, revealing how much of my value I had tied to others’ approval, and how exposed that left me feeling.

Some people drifted away or caused me hurt, and it cut deeper than I wanted to admit. I felt worn out and unsure, questioning whether I could truly walk in all He’s called me to. Yet even in that uncertainty, the Lord stayed close, whispering the truth I so often forget: His delight in me never changes.

Held, Not Performing

When relationships shift or people disappoint, His love remains steady. I am seeing more clearly that every good thing, every open door, every friendship, every bit of healing, is His work, not mine. I do not have to earn it or hold it all together to keep it.

God is teaching me to rest in His love not only when I feel strong, but when I feel small and unsure. His love does not flinch when I am tired or fade when I am anxious. It meets me in weakness and calls me beloved.

“I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love, neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow, not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below, indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38–39 NLT)

Those words have steadied me. My emotions shift day to day, but His love does not. It is constant. Stronger than fear. Deeper than uncertainty. Near, even in the quiet ache.

Rest Is His Gift

One of the biggest lessons this month: rest is not just something I do when I am tired. It is a gift from God. Not a reward. Not a sign of failure. A way He cares for me.

“He lets me rest in green meadows, he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.” (Psalm 23:2–3 NLT)

When I finally slowed down, I realized how much I had been carrying alone. The quiet became a place to notice His presence and feel Him restoring me from the inside out. Even in fatigue, frustration, or plans falling through, He keeps gifting me pauses. In them I notice something simple and profound: He is good. He cares. He provides what I need, even if it is just a moment to be still.

A Simple Practice for the Week

  • Every day this week, find five quiet minutes to sit with Jesus. Ask Him to show you the peace that comes from simply being with Him.
  • Choose one day to rest — not as an escape, but as a gift. Release the guilt, breathe deeply, and let Him refresh you.

Scriptures to sit with:

  • Matthew 11:28–30
  • Isaiah 30:15
  • Psalm 23:2–3
  • Romans 8:38–39

Even in the quiet, even when life feels messy or plans fall through, He is good. He is faithful. And He is giving you exactly what you need, even if it is simply a moment to pause and breathe.

Even here, He’s good.

Even in our struggle.

Even in our sadness.

Even in our doubt.

Even in our busy.

He is good.

With you,

Meg 🤍
